Virtual Homeless: Technology meets Social Marketing

I love the execution of this idea although I find it somewhat unsettling. It seems sad that we need the spectacle of virtual homeless people in order to connect to social illness. In this case, technology is catalyzing us to act more humanely. Interesting.

The future of ebooks on the iPad?

A nice demo by Penguin Books. If you get a chance, please read some of the comments on Gizmodo. The one strange thing about the demo is the lack of actual “reading” on the iPad. Are these examples actually “books”? The other thing this demo makes me wonder is what will future authors of ebooks look like?

Heads Up: Startl Accelerator Program

A great opportunity for entrepreneurs with a product or service in the educational arena:

Startl just had its first evolution. Take a peek and we think you will agree it looks a whole lot better. Also, moving at the speed of sound, we have chosen our cohort for the first Startl Boost and we are very pleased. Boost will take place in NYC March 15-19.

Now that we have that under our belts, we are focusing our attention on getting the best applicants into our summer Accelerator program in Philadelphia. Accelerator is a three month residency immersion for entrepreneurs who are launching innovative educational or learning products. The application deadline is March 22nd we are in need of your recommendations, referrals and introductions to prospective participants.

We are seeking referrals of young leading edge enterprises or products that may have come over your transom that are learning rich and market-smart. These might be in emergent product segments like social media, learning games, online education, mobile platforms, or peer-to-peer learning.

In partnership with DreamIt Ventures, Startl’s Accelerator program is designed to help entrepreneurs get over some of the early humps that plague start-ups — honing business models, defining approaches to end users, marketing and distribution solutions, financial and legal structures. Each team will work with industry mentors and a network of seasoned design specialists, tech entrepreneurs, learning experts, and market investors to help them de-risk their ventures.

Acclerator is a free program and we are covering the costs of bringing critical expertise to the table as well as giving teams a housing stipend.
