As the retrospectives fill the airwaves and online, I’m kind of surprised that the quote that has captured the media’s mindshare is on death. (okay, well not really considering Steve Jobs passed away). That said, I think the following is one of his stronger quotes from Stanford’s 2005 Commencement (man, I wish he gave our speech when I was there). RIP Steve Jobs – thank you for not settling.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
