For you undergraduate and graduate school innovators out there: The National STEM Video Game Challenge

As the saying goes, “I feel honoured just to be nominated.”

The winners of the Digital Media and Learning Competition have been announced and unfortunately Terra X was not one of them. I’m disappointed however I continue to feel honoured that my project was selected as a finalist. Looking at the descriptions of the award winners really highlights what incredible thinking is going on in the world of digital media and learning. If  you get a chance, please do take a look at the winning projects – inspiring.

I want to thank all of the people who supported Terra X. Your comments and words of encouragement on the DML website, YouTube, Facebook and email were much appreciated.

Well, back to business as usual. The next PlanetYou idea is just around the corner!

Sincerely,

Jason

Here’s our video entry for the Digital Media and Learning Competition. I’m pretty happy with the direction we took for this video although I must admit I’m humbled by the work of the other competitors. Please do take a look at their work; awesome stuff!

If you personally like where we’re heading with Terra X: An Interactive Learning Lab, please gives us your vote. You can vote/comment here. For those with big screens, you can also watch a higher rez Flash version here.

Terra X: An Interactive Learning Lab makes the finals!

I’m very pleased to announce that our project – Terra X: An Interactive Learning Lab – has been selected as a finalist in the MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition. The next step in the competition will be to create a three minute video describing the project. Lots of work to do. We’ll definitely keep you posted.

What will you do with your idea?

The MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition is now closed. I estimate over one thousand ideas were submitted. As far as I can tell, there are only six awards categories in the 21st Century Learning Lab Designers stream. Some of us will advance to the second round. Most of us won’t. That’s a lot of disappointed creative talent.

Gut check time: If you don’t receive DML funding, is your idea worth pursuing?
