Heads Up: UNICEF State of the World’s Youth Exhibit and Report Launch Date (Sept 8th)

Written by jason. Filed under Latest News. Tagged , . Comments Off.

After nearly 8 months of planning and designing, our latest project with UNICEF NY is set to launch in September (the 6th 8th specifically). Proofs of the publication have come back and they look brilliant! There’s still some work to do on the exhibit but I can’t wait to see the pieces mounted in the Dan Kaye Center with links to the UNICEF Voices of Youth website. The exhibit will continue for a couple of months so please do stop by if you are in NYC.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to upload some teaser images in the coming weeks.

Here are the covers from the booklet series we designed for Save the Children Sweden, War Child Holland and Plan International. The goal of the series is to teach young people about various terms and concepts related to the UN. I’m pretty excited to see the published versions.

Educational Apps Ecosystem Evolves: Discounts for Bulk App Store Purchases

Earlier, I wrote a piece discussing my thoughts on educational software in the app age. One of my main concerns regarding the successful maturation of an educational app industry was distribution. Apple is clearly the leader when it comes to distributing apps. The problem as I saw it was the App Store didn’t work for institutional buying. Well, it looks like this will no longer be the case: Apple Allows Developers to Offer 50% Discount to Educational Institutions for Bulk App Store Purchases

As the saying goes, “I feel honoured just to be nominated.”

The winners of the Digital Media and Learning Competition have been announced and unfortunately Terra X was not one of them. I’m disappointed however I continue to feel honoured that my project was selected as a finalist. Looking at the descriptions of the award winners really highlights what incredible thinking is going on in the world of digital media and learning. If  you get a chance, please do take a look at the winning projects – inspiring.

I want to thank all of the people who supported Terra X. Your comments and words of encouragement on the DML website, YouTube, Facebook and email were much appreciated.

Well, back to business as usual. The next PlanetYou idea is just around the corner!

Sincerely,

Jason
